Crewe and Nantwich group

Polling day May 2019

The Crewe and Nantwich group covers wards in the south of the region, across the Crewe & Nantwich consituency as well as Audlem, Bunbury and Wrenbury.

We have run campaigns locally bringing the voice of local residents to the regeneration plans in Crewe, better cycle and public transport and stood more candidates for election in 2019 than we have for many years.

The group convenor is Kim Heyes, assisted by Te Ata Browne - please email Kim Hayes if you'd like to volunteer. There is also a Facebook group you can join.

Government plans for cycling and walking

The Government has published a pamphlet describing its "Bold future vision for cycling and walking in England". The itemised benefits are:

  • Healthier, happier and greener communities
  • Safer streets
  • Convenient and accessible travel

"Places will be truly walkable. A travel revolution in our streets, towns and communities will have made cycling a mass form of transit. Cycling and walking will be the natural first choice for many journeys with half of all journeys in towns and cities being cycled or walked by 2030."

This is very encouraging. It's packed with ideas about how councils should proceed.
