Nick Speakman
Ollerton with Marthall
parish councillor
Nick grew up in North-Cheshire and has lived in Marthall since 2006. He became a Parish Councillor in 2018 because he cares deeply about his local area and community.
He is protecting natural habitats, supporting local food producers and protecting Cheshire from the potential urbanisation that constant attacks on the Green Belt create.
Nick owns a solar electric and heat system, an air source heat pump, battery storage and an EV.
He writes regular articles in parish magazines about the benefits of “green technologies”, and will speak about them to anyone who asks.
A keen rambler, cyclist and sailor. If he’s not whizzing around the lanes of Cheshire on a bike, he’s up a hill with his dog or racing a J80 on Windermere.
Nick is also a Parish Councillor for the much smaller neighbouring parish of Little Warford.
Rich McCarthy
Alsager
town councillor
Rich McCarthy has lived in Alsager and Congleton for 16 years. He has worked locally as a teacher and foster carer.
Before this, he worked as an energy audit trainer and consultant for a National Scottish Charity, focusing on addressing the climate emergency.
Rich is safeguarding essential services such as the NHS, social care, social housing, councils and education. In addition Rich advocates for emission reduction and transitioning to electrified energy sources,
Rich is a councillor for Alsager Town Council
