Local election success

Amanda Iremonger, Green Party Parliamentary Candidate for Macclesfield welcomes the local election results and is looking forwards to the General Election, saying that it cannot come soon enough.

Amanda welcomes Dan Price as our new Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire. “We in the Green Party look forward to working with you, Dan, most importantly to increase focus on protecting the vulnerable, particularly in our homes and other private spaces (hospitals or care homes for example) – not just violence against women and girls, but all vulnerable groups.”

Reflecting on the local elections, Amanda also says “I am delighted to see voters in England and Wales recognising the difference Green Party Councillors make across the country. We have seen around 1/3 more Green Councillors elected compared to last time these seats were contested, the biggest increase of any party, a testament to everyone in the Green Party, and to all the voters who believe we will make their area fairer and greener.”

“Congratulations to our colleagues in nearby Trafford and Stockport, and commiserations to Bridget Green – who lost in Bowdon by only 23 votes. I often hear “I’d vote for you if you could win”, we are now showing clearly that we can win anywhere”.
